Christians but really for anyone: Why do you believe that you are "free"?

I owe thousands of dollars in student loans. When I no longer owe any more money to the student loan companies, I will be happy. However, I will not think that I am completely free; just free from the obligation of paying those companies. True freedom does not typically exist unless one is a sociopath, unless that person gets arrested for something.
