How long does it take to completely eliminate fleas from the home?

Getting rid of fleas is very difficult. I had the same problem recently where my dog and cat had fleas and they were eating me alive. The only way you can completely get rid of them is to not have pets around. Even some outdoor cat that walks into your house. The eggs from fleas can stay dormant and unhatched in your carpet for almost a year- if you can believe that. It's crazy. Vacuuming will get rid of 70% of the flea eggs in your carpet, but it's important that you toss out the vacuum bag right after you vacuum and every time you vacuum because if you don't, the flea eggs that you just vaccumed up will get blown out the back of the vaccum again. I've found that if you DO have pets, using Advantage works wonders and will kill almost all of the fleas within 2-3 days after putting it on your pet. You can also try using a carpet solution like Fleas Away Boric Acid Carpet Treatment or Citronella if you want to go natural and avoid harsh chemicals. Citronella is not as effective as the Boric Acid treatment. Hope this helps.
